Over past 3 summer seasons Station was breaking records on the number of scientific projects running on the station and number of visitors per year. In the year 2014 number of various scientific projects has exceeded 15. And every year station welcomes 50-70 scientists from around the world.
Based on the research conducted on the North-East Scientific Station in the last 3 years was published multiple peer-review articles in the high impact factor journals. Including article in the Nature magazine -world highest impact factor journal.
Over the past 2 years was constructed and equipped two field monitoring sites for year round measurements of emissions of greenhouse gases. Research is done in collaboration with Max Planck institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena, Germany.
Massive renovation of the station infrastructure in underway. Numerous living facilities were upgraded. Sauna construction will be finished in the spring of 2015.
Starting September 2014, for the first time ever there is a fast internet connection on the station available via Wi-Fi in most station facilities.
Over the past 2 years machinery collection on the station was upgraded with 3 outboard motors, 2 cars and 2 snowmobiles. Overall assemblage of vehicles allow if needed make campaigns up to hundreds kilometers distances any time of the year.
