Horses living in the park are Yakutian semi-wild horses. These animals are shorter then normal horses and grow long hairs for winter season to help them survive the winter cold. These are purely grazing animals - they eat only grass species, and visit forested areas of the park only during the spring flood.

During the winter, best pastures are getting excavated several times. This decrease snow depth and allow soil and permafrost to freeze more deeply during the winter. In the aspect of the global warming and increasing temperatures, this phenomenon is very important to prevent permafrost from degradation
